Structural assessments are performed in a variety of situations. Standing buildings maybe examined for potential damage from earthquakes, hurricanes, or other natural disasters. Assessments can also uncover issues that could, or have occurred due to the passage of time and the action of wind, snow or rain.
A basic structural assessment involves a visual inspection. Specific recommendations and other preventive measures to protect the building may be recommended. If desired, a more thorough assessment can be done to cover more than just the integrity of the building, but also stairways, hand railings, underground tanks, foundations, roofs, plumbing, electrical, and general safety of the residence or commercial property.
